After several trips to Zimbabwe -- respecting the fact that recent nationalist rhetoric may have increased the dangers for tourists -- I can truly recommend it as the best all-around safari destination in Africa.
Fly in and out of Harare, saving just a little time to tour the town and do some shopping. Get on a plane and fly out to Victoria Falls.
Stay at the Vic Falls Lodge for the best views of the falls and a fabulous dinner buffet/barbecue every night of the week.
Take an aerial tour of the falls for the best photos, although walking or biking across the bridge toward Zambia (Livingstone) also provides nice views.
After enjoying the falls, plan on spending most of your time at and around Bumi Hills and Lake Kariba.
