Luggage And Bags: Take a bag that can expand or has more give in it. For example I took a big duffle bag that had several pockets. It was also a bag that I could keep secure.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring something warm and even an umbrella that is portable. And definately very comfortable shoes ... there could be a lot of walking involved, especially if there is a strike.
Toiletries & Medical Supplies: I brought along a small first aid kid as well as the normal toiletry items that I would carry. I also brought along shampoo, because some English hotels don't provide complimentary shampoo for your stay. They have the soaps but not the shampoo.
Photo Equipment: Definately bring a fast speed film so that if there is poor lighting (and many places won't allow flash photography or flashes on digital or video cameras) that this way the high speed film will be able work on your subject. I found it easy to get extra batteries there. I went to a chemist nearby Covent Garden and the woman there was extremely helpful.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Didn't venture there then.
