First Impressions Although I was staying with a friend in Malaysia (Johor Bahru), I actually flew into Changi Airport in Singapore as it was so much closer than KL. After reclaiming my baggage and the customs formalities I was greeted by my friend Paula and her baby. Paula was concerned that I would be too hot - but after the freezing cold temperature on KLM's plane the heat was a welcome relief! My first impression of the country was of the cleanliness of everything and also of the warmth and humidity. We drove from the airport towards the border crossing with Malaysia. I noticed at once that you had to stick to the speed limits as there were speed cameras everywhere. Another lasting impression of the country was that everything is so regimented and formal. |
