The town of Versailles is well worth wandering around. There are some excellent cafes, shops and restaurants. Also, as well as the Palace, the gardens are the perfect place to spend a hot summers day - especially if you manage to catch the firemen training!!! There are also some excellent bookshops in town if you want to pick up any cheap French novels (in French of course!). I managed to find a copy of L’Etranger by Albert Camus that I’d been trying to get for years.

vinc_bilb Thu Jul 3, 2008 16:01 UTC Hello, agreed: Mouling rouge and ... are really tourist trap! As a local, I don't understand the attractiveness of such places. C'est la vie :) | Gypsystravels Thu Nov 6, 2003 21:24 UTC Ah...Paris!! My must fave city in Europe...I gotta make it back soon. Will be passing by this December though!! | barryg23 Mon Jan 13, 2003 20:12 UTC very useful, accurate tips. I agree about getting those cheap French books and definitely about trying to see too much on foot! | John195123 Wed Jun 5, 2002 21:59 UTC Great page! |
