Favorite thing: <font color=0099CC size=+1>When in <b>Hot Springs</b> do what the locals do - bottle your own water at one of the several spouts. These are in the downtown area on Central Avenue. It's unusual that I got this shot with noone in it, usually people are lined up with their empty milk jugs waiting their turn. I have to admit, I used to do this too, when my kids were very young - they thought it was great fun & they'd actually drink the water.</font>

Have an ache or a pain that...

Favorite thing: <font color=336633 size=+1>Have an ache or a pain that just won't respond to anything? Well, come join the crowd that gathers daily at one of <b>THE</b> hot springs and take a dip. If you don't want to do the 'real' thing at a bathhouse, you can plunge that sore thumb or aching ankle into the thermal waters here free. But <b>Beware!</b> - the temperatures can reach 145 degrees F. I am not able to stand the heat for more than a few seconds at a time. Also, if you are chlostrophobic, the baths might not be for you (I am, and they're not for me!)</font>

Favorite thing: <font color=336633 size=+1>Visit one of the many parks. <b>Hot Springs</b> is located in a valley that was known by the Indians here as <b>Tah-Ne-Co</b>, or 'place of the hot waters.' According to tradition, this land was regarded as neutral by the various tribes. It was first visited by the white man on Sept. 16, 1541, when Hernando De Soto and his men camped in the vicinity and were led here by the Indians. They camped, bathed and departed on Oct. 5, 1541.</font>

Visit Oaklawn Race Track from...

Favorite thing: <font color=993399 size=+1>Visit <b>Oaklawn Race Track</b> from January to March for thoroughbred racing of the highest caliber. The <b>Jockey Club</b> is a classey way to wager, watch and dine all at your own table. You won't find better boiled shrimp or corned beef sandwiches ANYWHERE. Memberships are sold, and these are given priority reservations, but you get on a waiting list and be admitted for a $15.00 per person fee (it's worth it!).</font>

Shop at the Villa for those...

Favorite thing: <font color=FFCC00 size=+1>Shop at the <b>Villa</b> for those gifts you have to take home, or just simply for yourself. I get into trouble every time I go in there! Unique tablesettings and glassware, gourmet food items, picture frames, candles, soaps, and babythings. An excellent catalogue is available - just get on their mailing list. A real find is their outlet just across the street! Located on Central Avenue in the downtown historic district.</font>
