Bury used to have the largest Abbey in Europe- until the peasants revolted against monastic rule- sacked the Abbey- and used the stones to build their own homes. Still impressive and a nice little city. |

PrincessMonja Thu Apr 20, 2006 15:24 UTC I can't believe you've been to the Greek restaurant in Bury St Edmunds!! I know people who've lived here for 30 years who haven't been! When I went it was quite authentic - half of what we ordered wasn't available - just like Greece!! | DocSavage Mon Jan 12, 2004 14:07 UTC Can`t believe that you ate in the Greek Taverna. I have lived in Bury (on and off) for 25 years and never managed it! ;-)) | Carnation Sat May 31, 2003 10:01 UTC Great Info on the Abbey - just up the road from where I live :) |
