TURKEY

by Maria_75 - last update: Oct 5, 2005

A fascinating country full of history. The place where east meets west. Situated both in Europe and Asia, with many different cultures, ethnical groups, landscapes and climates. Ancient and modern. Mystical and open. The iman calls out the prayer from the minaret while the tourists lies on the beach. Old turkish farmers drinking cola, young tourists on a kelim carpet drinking turkish appletea. Turkish girls in short skirts and tops, walking side by side with turkish girls covered with veils. Turkey is a fascinating mix of it all.

I lived there for nine months an it was an experience of a lifetime. So close to home, but at the same time a whole world away. There was always something different to see or learn, and I really want to return one day. But there are also so many other places to see in this world... Why can't someone just pay me for travelling?!? ;)
