The canary islands consists of a few small islands and seven larger islands; Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma.

The islands have been known since the beginning of historical time, and was referred to as The happy islands by the greeks. Some have also tried to prove that they are the remains of the lost continent of Atlantis.

Can a non-Spaniard, like yourself, purchase and own property there in the Canary Islands? Sounds from your description a beautiful place to retire.

Great tips for the Canary Islands.. Especially the words issued from the old language spoken there.. really informative.. Look forward to going there some time soon.

I loved the canarian potatoes with the mojo sauce! really delicous! I had luck to see some of the parties of the canarian carneval in maspalomas:)

Hi Maria that is a great sunset picture in your must see activity tips. In your general ones, its sad to hear of places losing their native language. Much of that has happened here in Labrador with the Inuit and Innu languages. Cheers from - 15 Canada :-)
