The Canton page is used for info/photos of Guilin/Gui Lin city, and Li River Cruise and Yangshuo town (more photos and text in travelogue, 2002-June-10)
Under ‘MUST SEE’ section: Generally speaking, besides the Li River Cruise, the most touristy places to go are:
To have a good bird view Guilin’s unique landscape: Folded Brocade Hill /Die Cai Shan (more later) Wave Subsiding Hill /Fu Bo Shan (as shown in title photo, more later)
Others parks: Elephant Trunk Hill/Xian Shan (more later) Tunnel Pagoda Hill/Chuan Shan (more later)
[Now you already learn that ‘shan’ means ‘hill’ or mountain].
We love the countryside with tranquility so you could ride a bike or ask your taxi driver take you to: Peach Bloss River , there, you got closer to those water buffaloes, rice field, fishing people, and local village people (more later).
Many people also go to the Ethnic Folk Park , where a few ethnic culture architectures are displayed, some local people dress up in ethnic group’s costume performing folk dances/singing and other festival activities, some of them, inviting tourists to join. Or, selling souvenirs.
If you are there at the right time, and if you are interested, around lunar calendar May 15, there would be an International Dragon Boat Festival. Just follow the crowds or the firecracker sounds along the Li River segment inside Guilin city for viewing the competition.
