Nightlife Spot: Jo's Nautical Bar
Formerly only open on Friday and Saturday nights, now you can hang at Jo's Thursday thru Sunday evenings. It's like visiting your uncle's basement bar. It's been here for 50 years or more, run by the same couple. Jo is Josephine and she was a feisty lovely lady who went to join her husband, Jack, in the jazz club of the stars this past June. They are dearly remembered by anyone who was lucky enough to meet them.
The new owners were friends of Jo and Jack D'Arcy, they are keeping the walls of Jo's covered with nautical memorabilia from the past 50 years from coast guard badges to signs from ships. The juke box still plays Elvis and Aerosmith. And the bar still serves liquor and domestic beers such as Pabst Blue Ribbon and Michelob all at VERY low prices.
It's a neighborhood bar but all strangers are welcome to drop in.
