Massachusetts is a rich state--culturally, intellectually, geographically, and financially. People are friendly once they get to know you. But if you want to live here--WATCH OUT! Real estate's expensive and the taxes are high--that's why the pet name above.
For a visit--it's grand. But don't get drawn in by a travel package from abroad. Our UK friends came for the fall leaves (spectacular colors in OCT) on a travel package from home--sadly they were grossly overcharged. You can easily get accomodations once you are here or from websites devoted to the state. Or you can ask me!
