National Carillon Museum

The history of the big and beautiful bronze tower bells with their deep tones is a long one. The ancient Chinese accompanied their songs with the sounds of bells; horsemen from the Near East hung small bells around the necks of their horses in order to protect these valuable animals against evil. In those early days and faraway places the art of bell-founding began.
Bells are meant to be heard, but are also beautiful to look at. In the south of Holland, in the village of Asten, some 20 km east of Eindhoven, you will find the National Carillon Museum which boasts the largest collection of clocks and bells in Europe.

Entrance fees:
Adults: € 5.- per person.
Adults 65+: € 4.25 per person.
Children: € 2.50 per person.

Opening times:
Tuesday through Friday: 9.30 - 17.00 hours.
Saturday through Monday: 13.00 - 17.00 hours.
Closed: on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Carnival

Directions: Asten lies 20 km east of Eindhoven on the A67. There is a regular bus connection with Eindhoven and Helmond. In the village the route to the museum is signposted.

Rainbow Aviation

Rainbow Aviation carries out charterflights with planes from the type Cessna 172. The wings of this aircraft is on top of the plane, so you'll have a great view down to earth.

The Cessna has four seats, so you can fly with three people at once.

One can make a flight starting with 15 minutes.

15 minutes costs € 75,- Places to reach: directly around the airport, such as Eindhoven, Son, Veldhoven and Oirschot.

30 minutes costs € 115,- Places to reach: Veghel, Den Bosch, Tilburg.

45 minutes costs € 160,- Places to reach: Venlo, Tiel, Breda, The Biesbosch or a combination of places like Den Bosch and Tilburg.

60 minutes costs € 200,- Places to reach: Arnhem, Gouda or an other part of southern Netherlands.

We obtained for this last choice in order to reach our hometown Druten.

Historisch Openluchtmuseum Eindhoven

A very nice small open air museum on the southside of Eindhoven. Nice built prehistorical houses and medieval houses as the were found in the Netherlands in that specific period of time.

It is totally runned by volunteers, who just love to take part in medieval or prehistorical life.

One can visit this museum in approx. 2 hrs. or longer. But definately worth visiting.

Opening hours
From april to end oktober daily from 10.00 till 17.00 hrs.
From november to march only on sundays.

Het Nieuwe vanAbbemuseum

Collection

The Van Abbemuseum collection covers a period of about 100 years. In total the museum now owns roughly 2700 works of art, of which 1000 are works on paper, 700 are paintings and 1000 are sculptures, installations and video works. The collections international reputation is due to the fine quality of the individual works of art, some of which are world famous. In the strip below you can see illustrations of a number of works from the collection. They have been taken from the 100-year period covered by the collection and put in chronological order. More information about the works in the collection is to be found in the museum library.

Tuesday to Sunday 11.00-17.00 hrs.

This is a relatively new Zoo, which dislays only animals living or have once lived in Europe!
You will find bears, foxes,wolves, moose, deer, polar bears, etc.

It has a nice playground for the children too! It is not a very spectacular Zoo, but still worth a visit!
