Tiel is known in Holland namely for it's fruit and it's fruitindustry. Tiel lies in an area called Betuwe, which is known as the fruitarea of Holland.

To celebrate the harvest of the fruits on the first saturday in september they have "Oogstfruitcorso". This is a show of showwagons full of fruits and vegetables. They can make beautiful things of it.

In the front of the photo you can see the river Waal. This is the mainartery to Germany from Rotterdam. Most ships from Rotterdam to Germany come along this river.

Flipje

Further it is the home of "Flipje". Flipje is a mascotte ones used to promote marmelade and all kinds of jams of the wellknown trademark De Betuwe. Nowadays the factory is closed, but where the factory used to be they opened a little museum.

Amongst that Tiel is one of the many so called Hanzesteden like for example Zutphen, Doesburg and Deventer in the Netherlands and Hamburg and Lübeck in Germany for example.

Lot's of historic buildings of Tiel are gone today.
