Religion: The official religion in Norway is Protestant Christianity, and about 88% of the population belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran State Church. Several other churches and religious communities are however represented in Oslo. There is a Jewish Synagogue, several Catholic churches, Pentecostal, Methodist and Baptist churches, as well as Islamic communities and mosques.

Climate
Oslo has a mild and pleasant climate in the summer, more pleasant than its latitude would indicate, due to the favourable influence from the Gulf Stream, that brings warm waters across the Atlantic Ocean from the Gulf of Mexico.
It is also well protected from Atlantic rainfall by mountains. Statistically speaking, Oslo is Scandinavia's sunniest capital. The monthly day temperature in the summer is +20C (68F) - higher than in other areas situated in the same latitude, and with frequent hot spells.
Spring, summer and autumn temperatures may be compared to those in the New England states in the USA, Brittany in France or Galicia in Spain.

Communications - central location
There is easy access to Oslo by air, sea, railway, or by car.
By air: Major airlines like Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, KLM, ALITALIA and other carriers have daily non stop flights from North America (New York - 8 hrs) and major cities in Europe, like Amsterdam (1hr 45mns), Frankfurt (1hr 55mns), London (2hrs 15mns) and Paris (2hrs 15mns). Oslo may be reached from all continents via Copenhagen, with departures for Oslo every hour (55 mns).
Our new international airport, Oslo Airport Gardermoen, opened in October 1998. It is one of the most modern airports in Europe, situated 50 kms from the city centre. An Airport Express Train links the airport to the city centre in 19 minutes.
By sea: Comfortable and pleasant overnight cruises on car/passenger ferries to Oslo from Kiel (Germany) and Copenhagen, Frederikshavn and Hirtshals (Denmark).
By rail: Modern, clean and comfortable trains link Oslo with the other Scandinavian capitals and the rest of the continent. Connecting services to Stavanger, Bergen, Trondheim, Bodø and other Norwegian cities.

The statues in the park are really something special to see whilst in Oslo, things look different than when I was there it was freezing in December
