Hmmmm...San Marcos.

It's a typical comfortable small town parked alongside Hwy 76, between I-5 and I-15, about 40 minutes north from beautiful San Diego. San Marcos is quiet, very laid back, and only a ten minute drive from the ocean. San Marcos is not booming with history and culture.

Although the crime rate dropped among various towns in San Diego county (which has one of the lowest in the nation), the rate in San Marcos did go up a few notches. Nothing serious compared to other cities around the world I've been to.

There's much landscape development consisting of beautiful greenery. The town is, for the most part, well clean from trash. Public school buildings are modern and clean. The city council needs to do something about expanding their city library hours. Obviously they have a real budget problem in that department.

I see something good coming out of this little place. With the new California State University, San Marcos now up and running, that will be a definite plus for this place. Palomar College is a very impressive JC with excellent facilities. With the north county booming with development, I see San Marcos' economy doing well in the future. Like Temecula andOceanside, San Marcos will eventually become the "in place" to live.
