It may be cold, murky and polluted, but it makes an excellent break from the hustle and bustle of the city -- especially on a sunny summer day.

Three Nice Stretches
- Westminster to Embankment and across to the South Bank. This is the "classic" tourist route, featuring the houses of parliament, the London Eye, Aquarium and Saatchi Gallery, etc.
- Greenwich. Combine it with a trip to the Observatory, Maritime Museum and Cutty Sark. Well worth the trip. Check out the Victorian foot tunnel which passes under the river!
- Hammersmith. A beautiful and relaxing area untouched by other tourists. Have a pint at one of the excellent riverside pubs and check out the barges converted into homes.
