Sao Tome & Principe is on the west coast of Africa.a small island country that was once a Portuguese colony. The capitol is Sao Tome. Friendly ,helpful people that has beautiful port and beaches. However most of the beaches are not for swimming, but for the call of nature.(toilet) There are however some nice beaches a short distance out of Sao. The town is very safe, but the electrical power goes out often. You can enjoy your stay in Sao for about 35-45USD per day . The exchange is 7,100=$1.00 USD. The weather is mostly warm to hot at all times. Language (offical) is Portuguese, but English is understood and spoken often. Many of the buildings in Sao are in a state of disrepair, but it is still a beautiful town. The other island of the country is Principe, about 45 minutes flight from Sao. Principe is very poor island and not easy to find a sutiable room to stay. Principe has a upscale resort called BOM BOM. expensive but beautiful, and caters to off island and wealthy clients. Sao Tome and Principe is off the beaten path, and tourist are not common. By all means visit if you can ,it's well worth the trouble and expence. |
