Ethiopia is sort of off the beaten path,which I like. Addis Ababa is a large city of over two million people. You must be watchful for pickpockets and con artist. Traveled to Gambella, a town in the S/W part of Ethiopia. Wonderful friendly people,very poor and little future for the people that live there. When I was there (1998) the war was on and it made traveling a little more of a problem.
