One of the gratest places on Bodensee Lake Mainau Island is the largest and nicest flower garden I have ever seen. It is indeed an island, located in the Bodensee Lake (known also as Lake Constance). Mainau is a Germany location - had to be mentioned because the sides of lake Bodansee are shared between three countries: Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The island belongs to the Lennart Bernadotte Foundation, an entity created by the late Lennart, Count Bernadotte af Wisborg, formerly a Prince of Sweden and Duke of Smalandia. It is one of the main tourists attractions of Lake Constance. Beside flowers, there is a great park landscape with beautiful views on the lake. There is also a greenhouse with tropical climate and thousands of butterflies in it. |
|  | Whole island is a park and garden Once entering the island by crossing a bridge that connects the island to the mainland, you pay the entrance ticket, take the map, and prepare to discover the island and spend a relaxing three or four hours looking at flowers, butterflies and the lake. |
Butterflies house On the Mainau Island there is also a tropical greenhouse, where you can see and try to take good pictures of nice tropical butterflies. This is one of the nicest butterflies house I've seen (along with the one in Holland, near Het Zwing, and the one in Vienna). | | |
