Monaco and Monte Carlo

by codrutz - last update: Nov 18, 2007

View of Monaco from the top of the Maritime Museum
Monaco is the most exclusive country in Europe. Residents are called Monegasques and they are almost entirely rich people. I mean rich as in million dollars or euro rich :) To clear other thing out - Monte Carlo is a subdivision or municipality of Monaco (the country - Pincipality of Monaco), the other subdivisions are Monaco-Ville, La Condamine, Fontvielle, and the newer and less known Moneghetti, Larvotto, La Rousse, Saint Michel, La Colle, Les Revoires, and the future Le Portier - as city expands with new resident development - quartiers.

Monaco is mostly known for Monte Carlo, though while visiting you will be in Monte Carlo just in the area around the Casino, when you are by example at the Maritime Museum you are in Monaco-Ville.

As most travelers I though about Monaco and Monte Carlo and I though Casino, Maritime Museum and the Botanical Garden, and maybe the Formula 1 Grand Prix. I was kind in a hurry in Monaco so my impressions were swift, I really need to get back there and explore more. In a nutshell, Monaco is great for spending a day or two, not a place to shop but to wander, look at luxury cars and people, some stay in the front of the Casino until a celebrity arrives, I liked the charm of the city/country, the port and the streets.
