Funicular to Hochensalzburg Hohensalzburg Fortress Review

To climb at the height of Salzburg Fortress (Hochensalzburg) you take a funicular, which is modern and fast, you reach the fortress in five minutes.

It's not an old cogwheel train but a state of the art coach based on a tractor cable. The two coaches runs on the same line, they meet at midpoint and pass each other.

Really beautiful flowers at Mirabell Mirabell Garden & Castle Review

The Garden Mirabell is a wonderfull relaxing park, especially if you walked eight hours on the previous day :) Its flowers, statues, fountain, palace, combined with a nice weather makes you feel really good.

Lange nacht der museen Museums Review

The day was 20th of September 2003. We found out with surprise that the Lange Nacht der Musses (The Long Night of the Museums) is underway. Meaning that with an universal ticket (12eur) you are able to visit every museum in the city from 6pm to 1 am. We bought the ticket at 9pm and wondered in Salzburg's center and in Hochensalzburg fortress up the hill till midnight. What a great luck and nice experience!

Inside the tunnel

There was also some kind of music performance in that tunnel, with a DJ, lights and smoke effects. Car traffic was stopped for the evening and only bikes passed by, emerging from the smoke and almost bumping into you.

Live statues Mirabell Garden & Castle Review

I saw this in more than one occasion during my trips in Europe. People painted in bronze and freezing for hours, imitating statues are now everywhere. Nevertheless, I don't know about the status of those people. Some even says that is in fact a form of begging. In my opinion this is a form of street entertainment and regardless of the scope, they are adding flavour arround city attractions.

I remember one mime dressed in Charlie Chaplin, with his stick, making jokes on people when they were not paying attention. I got busted once when I was concentrating making a picture :) Boy that stick tickles :)

The tunnel

This downtown tunnel is ussualy opened for traffic, but for this occasion it was closed (as well as many streets in the center) and inside there was mystical music, lights and fog machines.

Beer tent Breweries and Beer Gardens Review

There was also a beer tent and it was pretty popular at that midnight time. That was not big by Oktoberfest's standards but they had a band, beear and good athmosphere :)
