Getting TO/AROUND: The most obvious way to arrive is by plane, mostly to Leonardo da Vinci Airport (formerly called Fiumicino Airport), some 50km north of Rome. From there the best option is to take the direct train "Leonardo da Vinci" to Rome's Termini Station (main train station) - 9,5eur/person. This train is pretty slow and it takes 30 minutes to reach Rome. The good thing is that it also arrives at the airport every half an hour.

Category: Subway/Metro
Getting TO/AROUND: ATAC is the official company for transport in Rome. The tickets can be bought from the automatic machines in any subway station and in most of the bus stations. 1 full fare ticket (BIT) is 1 eur and is valid for 75 minutes .. so it does not matter if you switch a bus or a metro to your destination, but you have to watch not to travel longer than the validity stated on the ticket (75 minutes from the time of you bought it on the machine). There is also a good option to take a day ticket (BIG), which is 4 eur and offers you posibility to travel as much as you want till midnight same day. Check the official ATAC website for useful info regarding lines, schedules, point-to-point etc.

Category: Bus
Getting TO/AROUND: Tip: Find a map of Rome that shows clearly the routes of the buses! Most of the maps that you will find in Rome shows the metro system, that is pretty easy to usem because there are only two lines, A and B. But buses are another thing. I had two maps and neither showed the routes of the bus, but only if you made some difficult search which takes time. Though after you find the desired bus, the rides aren't so smooth like lets say in Paris, because the streets are pretty uneven and the ride are very bumpy. You should though take the 115 bus to the Janicullum hill in Trastevere. 115 and 116 are electric buses and they aren't use by locals because they move to slow, so they are like a tour bus you can ride with only 1 eur (the cost of a normal ticket).
