Wurzburg and it's magnificent Residence

by codrutz - last update: Jan 1, 2006

Wurzburg is the north starting point of the Romantic Road (Romantische Strasse) in Germany. As it was a driving trip, it was mandatory to visit this lovely city.
While in Bavaria I truly advise to pay a visit to Wurzburg and its Residence (UNESCO - Word Heritage) - one of Europe's most outstanding palaces, with its "White Hall", "Emperor's Hall", "Garden Hall", "Parade Rooms" and the "Mirror Cabinet" and a perfect Court Gardens. The interiors of Residence are really original - I dare to say I didn't encounter such architecture, rich and beautiful room decorations in any other palace that I saw in Europe.
Another landmark of Wurzburg is the Fortress Marienberg, but unfortunately, those few hours available in my schedule for Wurzburg were dedicated mostly to visit Residence, and the center of the old town.

Pros:"Residence, Court Gardens, Alte Mainbrucke, Old Town"
In A Nutshell:"Residence palace in Wurzburg worth a 100km detour"

It's regret that I didn't visit your Wursburg page before my trip to Germany. It is a nice city, but i didn't visit the interiors of Residence. :-(
