The lonely planet says that Kitakyushu is an industrial city that doesn't have much to offer... I beg to differ. It is conveniently located near Fukuoka City (which has an International Airport) at the top of Kyushu Island. It is a sprawling urban city but has some interesting places to see and things to do.
I lived in Kitakyushu from July 1998 to July 2000 in the suburb of Edamitsu. I was working here as an Assistant Language Teacher on the JET (Japan Exchange & Teaching) Programme and was employed by the Kitakyushu Board of Education.
Kitakyushu was also host to a technology Expo in 2001 (4 July - 4 November 2001) For more information on places to see in Japan please look at my Japan
Please also visit another great place I lived in Japan: Nagano |
