Okinawa is a group of islands south of Kyushu quite near Taiwan. It is the only place in Japan with a sub-tropical climate.

Kumejima . This is one of the smaller islands in the Okinawa area. It can be reached either by ferry or small plane from Naha. It was a much more beautiful and relaxing place to be than the main island (Naha), I thought.

Okinawa is a great place to unwind. The shopping is good there because of the heavy American influence. The beaches are fantastic. There are great opportunities for snorkelling and diving in Okinawa although courses for certification may be more expensive than other parts of the world.
