I lived in Tela, Honduras for a year (1994-1995) and returned again for 3 months over Christmas 1996.
My first experience was as an Exchange Student. I lived with a Honduran family and I went to High School. The second trip was to spend time with my boyfriend at the time. During that second trip I lived in La Lima, close to San Pedro Sula.

I have travelled a fair bit all over Honduras and think it is a fantastic country with a vibrant culture.
If you are planning a trip to Central America then you should definately consider Honduras as a place to go

Looks like you had a pretty good time in Honduras. When we visited we only had a few hours until departure of our cruiser - so we saw only Omoa. I think we have to come back one day.

That would have been a hell of a lot of flying for you from NZ, to LA to Miami and then to Honduras! Nice page though, a cool way to travel no doubt!!

I was in TRUJILLO Honduras in 1990. We were doing a military excercise on a DOLE plantation called AHUA TARAS. Our ship pulled up to PUERTO CASTILLA. Those GARIFANUS can party can't they? I drank plenty SALVA VIDA.
