  • Tuty's

Tuty's is on the Calle de Comercio in Tela. It is a good place to get a cheap (but delicious!) lunch. It is probably most famous though for its refreshing drinks made from real tropical fruit. Open from 6am - 10pm and closed Sundays.

    Pollo's al Carbon

This place is located near the new bridge in Tela. It has fantastic charcoal chicken served with coleslaw and fried platano.

    Villas Telamar

(see picture). Although a little more up-market the Villas Telamar tourist resort has a couple of nice eating establishments. It is a bit more pricey than the local eateries but I often used to go there for a romantic dinner or to the Delfin Bar (on the beach) for a Strawberry Daiquiri as the sunset! This bar is open from 9am to 11pm.

    Cesar Mariscos

Located on the pedestrian street in front of the beach. This place has really good food with seafood being their specialty. The restaurant is open from 7am and is a hotel also.

    Sherwood

Located next to Cesar Mariscos, Sherwood is also a hotel/restaurant establishment. Open daily from 7am-10pm.

    Luces del Norte

This is the place with the English speaking owner that I was taken to on my first day in Tela. They have great breakfasts and real fruit drinks. It is located one block north of the beach towards the central park, very close to my old school.

    Cafeteria Presidente

Located upstairs on a terrace at the Hotel Presidente overlooking central park. I once went to a wedding here (a friend of a friend!) and had a blast! They have a variety of food available although the prices are a bit higher compared to the smaller places.

    Merendero Tia Carmen

I used to stop off here all the time for their delicious baleadas. You can choose your filling wrapped up in a mouth watering tortilla.
Two locations: On the Jose Cecilio del Valle Street (runs parallel to the calle de comercio) and across the street from the San Antonio Gym.

    Favorite Dish: Pizzeria El Bambino

Located on the school road one block up from the beach. Has GREAT pizza and spaghetti dishes and a playground for kids. Open from 9.30am til 10pm.

    Restaurante Los Angeles

This is Tela's Chinese food establishment. I recommend the Chop Suey dish. The portions are really big and eat in or take out are available. Open from 10am - 2 pm and then again at 5pm - 9.30pm. Located on the Comerical Street close to the old bridge.

    Restaurante Puerto Rico

Located at the end of the Pedestrian Street in front of the beach on the first floor of the Hotel Puerto Rico. Open from 7am - midnight.

I have heard from my Teleno friends that there are many more restaurants now in Tela but these are the ones that I frequented and can personally recommend. I am sure that anywhere you decide to eat in Tela you will experience good food. Take the time to stop and chat with the owners of the establishments. They are always interested in talking to their customers!
