"Business Trip to Sao Paulo" São Paulo by kiwigal_1

I have wanted to travel to Brazil for some time now and had recently thought that my first trip there would be on my honeymoon but that didn't quite end up happening as the honeymoon got delayed while I had work to attend to. As it turned out work won over and sent me to Brazil for 8 days while my poor husband stayed behind in Santiago de Chile. Being a work trip I didn't remember in the rush of packing to put my camera in my bag (I know this is rather unbelievable for a traveller to commit such a crime) however some friends have duly taken pictures of me while I am here and hopefully at some stage these will be sent to me so I can update the pages with a bit of colour.

The airport experience was very smooth. Unlike many other airports I have had to go through of late, the one in Sao Paulo did not require us to put our bags through an x-ray scanner upon entry. I guess biosecurity is not such a priority. I also found it interesting that as we exited the plane and walked towards the area to collect our bags we had to pass the entry ports to where other planes were boarding. I thought this could present some security risks should someone decide to take a left turn and board another plane (or maybe my imagination is working over time!). The entrance hall was not as chaotic as most other Latin American entry halls I have arrived in and thankfully found my taxi driver lounging in a chair with my name on his card. The drive into Sao Paulo from Guarulhos was quite smooth considering it was a long weekend. Lots of traffic but I thought the drivers were rather courteous considering. I was surprised at the number of motorbikes and the speed with which the hurtled down the highways in between two rows of cars tooting their horns the whole way to avoid collision should one of those cars decide to change lanes.
