As you may see in the travelogues, Rome is almost an obsession... I can say is one of my favourite cities, and everytime I think about it I want to go back for more!
|
Getting lost there... One of the things I really enjoy in Rome, it's the huge number of unforgetable places I found there. I think it's almost impossible to put all of them here in "Must see activities". As I say in one of the travelogues, the best thing to do in Rome is forgetting the touristy places, because in every corner you will find an absolute masterpiece. There are a lot of little churches or squares that host a work of Caravaggio, Michelangelo or Bernini, for example. And maybe they are not in the typical routes.
So... take a big time and a confortable shoes, forget the standard "routes" and get lost in that crazy and lovely city. You won't regret it! . |
In my oppinion, there are two main ages that are perfectly represented in Rome. First one is the Ancient Roman Empire... of course Rome was the chapital, the centre of the world? There you will discover how ancients romans discovered everything. Art, engineering, laws, politics, etc... everything is yet made by them... after all this, humans are making exaclty the same but with other titles... the same mistakes, the same awards ;)
The other age is Baroque, when Rome became another time the center of almost everything. Revolution times preparing for the revolution, the same circle again.
Jump to the history, just crossing a street or turning your face. You have to understand, choose and compare, this is the beauty of Rome: it is not easy.
