We came to Prague by train through Belorussia and Poland, it took us 2 night and 1 day. We planned to visit not only Prague, but also some castles near it and Karlovy Vary. I was really struck by the old centre of the capital. The days were sunny, we had long walks along the Karlov (Charles) Bridge with its marvellous sculptures and Krzhyzhovitskaya Square, we drank hot wine in Staromestskaya Square with its gothic tower and a big fantastic clock on it. One can't imagine the spirit and the atmosphere of the city without visiting it. The churches where the music of Mozart is played in the evenings, the Temple of Saint Nickolas (Mikulash) with its green dome is great! It is astonishing that neither German occupation during the 2nd world war nor long communist regime could break this wonderful, unforgettable, misterious spirit! And of course - the Czeck beer! I have never tasted nicer beer. I strongly recommend dark Kryzhovitse beer, though tastes differ. |
