We visited Pisa on the way from Venice to Florence and we had very little time - our program in Italy was very saturated. It is a small university town on the Gulf of Genoa (the Ligurian Sea). Pisa is mostly populated by students, the university is very old - Galileo Galilei taught in it. At those times Pisa was a powerful sea state, conquered a lot of countries what influenced its architecture a great deal. It's a real pleasure to walk around the main square of Pisa - the Square of Miracles (Piazza de Miracoli) on a bright sunny day and to enjoy the architectural masterpieces of the architect Bonano Pisano. |
