We spent in Rome only two days, to be more exact - one day in Rome and one day in Vatican. Of course it is too little. But our excursions were so saturated, that we managed to see a lot. By the end of the day the information and impressions seemed to roll over the edge of my brains. It was clever of me to have had a notepad handy for writing down some facts, otherwise I would have been absolutely confused. It has taken me plenty of time to make a system of what I got acquainted with. What associated with Rome at the end of the tour? Incomparable beauty of architecture. Monumentality. And cruelty. Yes, cruelty - we heard so much about the brutality of Roman emperors, for instance, Nero. But there is nothing to be done. History has always been cruel. And I understood why Rome is often called "eternal city" - one can see all the architectural constructions built from the moment of the city's foundation until now. |
