Beyond any doubt if you travel to Egypt, Cairo is a must, as not far from it, in Giza, there are world famous pyramids. Long ago ancient Egyptians were sure that life begins in the east and is over in the west (repeating sunrise and sunset). So they built houses on the eastern bank of the Nile, where Cairo is situated now, and buried people on the western bank where Giza with pyramids is. The Nile has always been associated with crocodiles (the words even rhyme), but you may be quiet - after building the Aswan Dam crocodiles can't get to the lower part of the river. On the whole Cairo is noisy, vain and, unfortunately, very dirty. It is so noisy that it reminds of bird colony on the seashore. The traffic is dense, fast and ruthless, and endless sounds of automobile klaxons can drive you mad! |
