  • The INVALIDES - it is the former Catholic church, the former hospital and the former asylum.
The building consists of 3 parts - the Chapel of Saint Louis, the Army Museum and the hospital. In the centre of the chapel there is the tomb of Napoleon. Around the tomb the names of cities defeated by him are inscripted. Moscow is among them, but it's not true! Do you know what happened with Napoleon army in Moscow? They were frozen to death in winter and could hardly leave it. But burned it almost to the core.

  • By all means walk along Avenue des CHAMPS ELYSEES!!
It is the place for walks and entertainments of 'the cream of society', another symbol of Paris. At the entrance of the street you can see the sculpture composition - Horses of Cousteau. It ends with the Arch of Triumph.

  • Trocadero Square.
From the square you may enjoy the wonderful view over the Eiffel Tower. The more I looked at it the more it seemed to me that someone's gigantic hand had put it there from the space. The Eiffel Tower is also a symbol of Paris. By the way you may climb the Tower and look at Paris from above.

Louvre: The LOUVRE Museum, which was...

  • The LOUVRE Museum, which was being built in the course of 6 centuries - each emperor completed something to his own taste.
It is not necessary to mention why being in Paris every tourist must see the Louvre - it's the treasury of world's art. The museum consists of 3 parts: Denon, Sully and Richelieu. In Denon you find the world famous 'Monna Lisa' by Leonardo da Vinci and the statue of Nike, the Goddess of victory. In Sully - the statue of Venus, Egyptian art, painting of French masters. In Richelieu you can enjoy the art of Islam, ancient Iran. What I did not like about Louvre is the glass pyramide outside the museum. It looks rather odd and (it's my opinion!) spoils the architectural ensemble of Louvre.

  • Walk around the Square of Concord!
You'll enjoy the sight of plenty wonderful buildings and fountains of the 19th century. In the centre of Concord you'll see the oldest architectural monument of Paris - the obelisk brought from Luxor, Egypt. From Concord can be seen: Avenue des Champs Elysees, the Arch of Triumph, the Bourbon Palace (National Assembly) and the golden dome of the Invalides.

  • The Arch of Triumph situated in the Square of Etoile (star) or Charles de Gaulle.
The Arch was erected to commemorate the victories of Napoleon I. If you climb the Arch and look around you'll understand why the square is called 'the Square of Star' - all longest and most important avenues of Paris lead to this square and from above you seem to be in the centre of a star.

  • Walk along the boulevard Saint Michel - the main boulevard of the southern part of the city.
Here the town-planning system of Middle Ages is preserved. This part of Paris is often called 'small Athens' - 80% of restaurants situated here are Greek.

Actually, they require you to check in the camera at the coat check. I did, however, take some great pictures in the lobby area- they just won't let you photograph the show. and I did get my camera back at the end, intact.
