My most most pleasurable stay on Catalina was at the Glemore Plaza Hotel. It was built during the turn of the century and our room was all wicker with yellow and white striped furniture cushions. They have ocean view rooms and for a better price there are partial -view rooms and mountain-view rooms. Some rooms have whirlpool bathtubs.

The hotel was part of a package which included the fare on the Catalina Flyer which was purchased through a travel agent.

At the present (winter 2003) the hotel is advertising a winter rate at $99 for a 2 day, 1 night stay and roundtrip transportation from Long Beach, San Pedro, Dana Point or Newport Beach.

Unique Qualities: They serve a continental breakfast, offer free transportation to all the terminals, and give you free beach towels.

I've never actually stayed at this hotel, I've seen it from the outside and it does look very nice. This is the oldest hotel on Catalina, a turn of the Century landmark. It's right next to the Metropole Market Place. They also serve a continental breakfast and have a roof-top sun deck and day spa facilities. Some have listed it as one of the best 10 hotels in the L..A. area.
