Manhattan Beach - A Happening Place

by Goner - last update: Aug 8, 2003

The Happening Place

Volleyball
I hadn't been to Manhattan Beach for many years, now I don't know why as there is always something going on there. It has a great strand for rollerblading, bike riding or walking the dog. The Surf Festival 6-Person Volleyball Tournament was going strong on August 2nd, and the founders of our Virtual Tourist travel site invited all its members to their tent to watch this colorful event featuring volleyball teams in outrageous costumes.

The pictures from this event is featured in my travelog.
Manhattan Beach

The Other Side of the Pier

Manhattan Beach isn't always so crowded - this is the beach on the other side of the pier during the volleyball tournament.

Manhattan Beach is primarily a residential community located right on the beach with a tree-line downtown and a beautiful pier. It has a small town spirit with a laid back atmosphere and boasts the World’s best year-round weather. Many shops and services line Sepulveda Blvd. and Manhattan Beach Blvd. to service its residents and visitors.

Manhattan Beach sits between the towns of El Segundo and Hermosa Beach. To get Manhattan and Manhattan State Beach from the 405 Freeway, use the Rosecrans Ave exit, turn left on Sepulveda, which is Highway 1 to Manhattan Beach Blvd. and turn right – down the hill you will see the Manhattan Beach pier. From the 105 Freeway, exit at Sepulveda south and turn right onto Manhattan Beach Blvd.
