MEMORABLE ITALY

by Goner - last update: Aug 15, 2003

Italy, the land of pasta and beautiful architecture, wonderful art, green mountains and valleys, more pasta, excellent wine, steep cliffs hanging over the sea, palm trees in the mountains, sophisticated ladies with gorgeous leather attire, very handsome men and young ladies that look like models. Varied countryside; Umbrian hilltop towns, green and yellow fields, Lemon Cello, more pasta, pastel buildings clinging to the cliffs overhanging the Mediterranian, so much to see. So much pasta to eat!

Trip Outline

I joined a Cosmos bus tour for a two-week tour of Italy with a few friends. I was hesitant about travelling in a bus with 35 people and being stuck with them for two whole weeks, but it couldn't have been better. Besides Americans from several states there were two Australian couples that added to our fun.

We flew into Rome from LAX, but had to change planes in Milan, this we found out was due to Alitalia Airlines going on strike. Other Cosmosnites who were coming on other flights were rerouted to London and Frankfurt, then into Rome. They all arrived in time for breakfast the next morning.

As usual, up at 6 a.m., breakfast at 7:00 a.m. and on the bus by 8 a.m., but it got me out of bed in the morning!!

In the two weeks we visited Rome, The Vatican, Florence, Pisa, Milan, Rapallo, Lugano into Switzerland, Lake Como, Bellagio, Verona, Venice, Assisi, Sorrento and Pompeii.
