Monaco, an ancient principality steeped in a rich and colorful history, is considered by many to be Europe's most fascinating country. This Principality stands as a proud monarchy with his Serene Highness Prince Rainier III as its head of state. Today people visit Monaco and its glittering district Monte-Carlo to vacation, to test their standing with lady luck, to see and be seen, and to have the memorable experience of having been to Monaco.
Monaco is close to everyone's heart in the US, because it was our beautiful queen of American film, Grace Kelly, who left us to become a real-life princess. I must confess, Grace Kelly was my main reason for visiting Monaco. The photo is taken from a magazine that had been packed away for many years (I could never throw it away) and now I can share it with you on my Monaco page.
Monaco has flourished under the Grimaldis for 700 years and will continue to do so if Prince Albert marries and produces an heir, if he does not, Monaco will return to France.
Born to a prominent family in Philadelphia, Grace Kelly pursued an acting career; she enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York, and soon became one of the greatest actresses in the American cinema. She won an Oscar at the age of 25, and was in other celebrated movies as “ High Noon", "Mogambo", "Rear Window", "Dial M for Murder", "High Society", " To Catch a Thief ", " The Swan.
How They Met
Grace Kelly won an Oscar in 1955 for the movie “The Country Girl” and was invited to the Cannes Film Festival, so off she went in May of 1955. A journalist invited Ms. Kelly to a photo shoot with Prince Rannier and the two fell in love,(sigh)..Prince Rannier asked her to marry him on New Years of 1956 and they were married April 19, the same year.
Prince Rannier made a great decision to marry this Hollywood star, she became a beacon of light for the people of Monaco who helped him lead his country to the 21st century.
After Her marriage, Princess Grace of Monaco divided Her life between official engagements, her home, social work, and the cultural events. On January 23rd 1957, She became the mother of baby girl, Princess Caroline. About one year later, on March 14th 1958, She would give birth to Prince Albert Heir to the Throne of Monaco. On February 1st 1965, another girl, Princess Stéphanie was born.
H.S.H. Princess Grace, President of the Monégasque Red Cross and Honory President of the World Association of the Friends of Childhood, set up a nursery and a hospital aid center. She also took a great interest in establishing organizations that benefited the arts, in Monaco and internationally. She had established a Foundation that bears Her name in order to encourage the distribution and sale of works and productions of various types of artistic expression. Numerous other national and international activities benefited from Her concern in social and cultural affairs.

Great tips and pictures. Haha, I visited awesome Eze and enjoyed crazy driving up a lot. Did you know that some young folks still try to do illegal car races on the corniches at night? (at least Porsche needed + a lot of money for ticket :-)
Hi, thanks for visiting. Lots of good and useful tips about this small country.
Wonderful and complete page about Monaco Nancy! I was here for a day last autumn and loved it! Thanks for bringing back some of those memories for me :-))
What a brilliant Monaco page Nancy. I really enjoyed reliving these memories. Superb tips and pics!
Great Monaco pages! Really makes me want to visit --if I have a dress with me!
You should visit Monaco next year when F1 race takes place. I was there (at the race) this year and i only can say that it's amazing!! Nice pages (take care) See my Monaco travelogue ...
Janika, the flag of Poland is just upside down (white over red)
Hmmm, Even a small country like Monaco has a F1 race but Canada won't! :( 750 Euros per night?! Whuh~ I'll make sure to see it in one day and don't have to sleep there. :) Their flag looks like the flag of Poland. Awesome page Nancy. :)
