If you're ever in France's Savoie region, Annecy is a place you should not miss. The Old Town is lovely - the canals are lined with flowers and outdoor cafes, at night the streets are lined with strings of lights, and Lake Annecy and the mountains that surround it are gorgeous. Besides Chateau d'Annecy and Palais De L'Isle, there is not much else in terms of "touristy" landmarks. It's really a place to relax and take in the atmosphere. But there are plenty of things to do such as lake activities, souvenir shopping, and walking, walking, walking. There are plenty of wonderful small French restaurants and ice cream shops everywhere, so you won't go hungry. We were in Annecy in August, and the temperature was perfect, no need for a jacket. |

Kate-Me Mon Aug 7, 2006 07:23 UTC lovely page, brings back wonderful memories. | canadiantravelgirl Sat Jan 14, 2006 11:41 UTC Reading your page makes me want to return to the Alps :~) Hopfully I will make it to this lovely place next time! | matcrazy1 Fri Mar 11, 2005 16:28 UTC Fantastic page. You inspired me to add Annecy to my future travel list. The most charming French cities/towns I visited were Colmar, Strasbourg and Carcassone (the last two maybe over-crowded though). | Beausoleil Sat Aug 28, 2004 05:14 UTC Love your Annecy pages. Our favorite restaurant beside the canal is Beau Soleil (for obvious reasons). We love the fondue there and the waiters are wonderful. Most of them speak five or six languages and love to tease. It's a beautiful town and lake. |
