From Annecy you can catch a train and within one hour and 30 minutes you can be in Chamonix. It's a very touisty little town, but in the summer it is quite warm and is very colorful. There are great little markets where you can shop for food for a picnic in the park. There are also several resturants. Chamonix is where you catch the lift to Mont Blanc. You will need to make reservations 24 hours in advance as this is a very popular attraction. You should make the reservations from Annecy, and the number is 04 50 53 4000. I'm sorry to say I couldn't go to the top of Mont Blanc because I wasn't aware I needed a reservation - however, my son and his bride went to the top, on their honeymoon.... |

tak_pap Tue Jan 27, 2004 11:16 UTC nice start, great intro photo - I'll be back ! | pepples46 Mon Nov 24, 2003 04:53 UTC wonderful intro pic Nancy, looking forward to the text on this great Mountain | firechick Fri Oct 24, 2003 01:15 UTC Hi, nice start. I agree with moutainguide. Also, no need for 24 hour reservations? You wouldn't get tickets in Annecy - they are given at the Aiguille lift station starting in the early AM. Only high season (July/Aug) is crowded. | kaloz Sat Sep 6, 2003 05:51 UTC Good introduction, too bad about the reservations. |
