Nightlife Spot: Absolutely 4th Street
This is a great bar in the Village. Dark but not 'cave like' with a solid drink list, helpful but not pushy wait staff and decent appetizers. It's usually busy but not packed to the walls with people. Jeannine and I count this as one of our favorites in our neighborhood and often take friends there.

Nightlife Spot: Bar 89
This is a place that many folks find out about because of the 'unique' bathrooms. First of all they are unisex and secondly (and more imporantly!) the door 'fogs up' when you close the latch providing a privacy. The bar is located in SoHo and is a good choice for drinking and eating. The menu is not extensive but the food goes well with the drink and it is of good if unremarkable quality. Things are bit pricey but what isn't in NYC?

Nightlife Spot: Sweet and Vicious
The name makes this bar sound more edgy than I actually found it to be but I was really pleased with it. I think it is a good place to start or end a pub crawl. The space inside is big and you have room to spread out even when it is busy. The drink menu is straight forward if a bit limited (for instance the bartender did not know what a Sidecar was).

Nightlife Spot: Chow Bar
I plan to go back here for the food but on this occasion we were there just for the drink. A comfortable bar that seats about 30 people with room to stand around it. The place is very clean and the bar service was decent.

Nightlife Spot: Markt Cafe
No that's not a typo, Markt is Belgian. It is much more than a bar, full resturant & menu but I've only been there to drink. The bar is large and inviting. A wide selection of drinks including many Belgian beers. It's in the Meat Packing District which has recently become a 'hot' spot.

Dress Code: Nicer rather than sloppier is in order. It draws a good after work crowd. Stylish but not uptight...

Nightlife Spot: Blind Tiger Ale House
A great bar in the Village! Straight forward, excellent tap and bottle selections, a good place to meet friends, existing or new. I put myself in the hands of the bartender- letting her pick all my beers and was not disapointed once!
