Of all the countries I visited in November 2000 (see United Kingdom, Netherlands and Belgium pages for more info), Luxembourg was the most magical. From the moment the train I was on passed over its border from Belgium, I was in love. It was late afternoon and the sun was setting over its mountains and valleys. It really served to highlight the beauty of the farms and castles and old buildings.
And once in the city of Luxembourg City, I saw the old walls and castle remains and realized this place was only getting more impressive with each passing moment. We ate well in their fabulous resturants, we got a nice workout walking up the hills, but most importantly, we were lucky enough to meet some of the nicest people in all of Europe.
Get to Luxembourg if you get the chance, you won't regret it.
