Pecs city and it's history I started these pages back in Febuary 2001 and have now decided to update them to the new VTML format. I was absent from VT for a few years so hope to keep my pages updated now. I will be adding a lot more text and pictures soon... so be patient. This is just for starters... Pécs (pronounced paitch) Pécs is the fifth largest town in Hungary with a population of approx. 180,000. Situated south of Trans-Danubia, close to the border of Croatia, weatherwise it's mild, almost Mediterranean climate.
I think the best way to travel is to take the Inter-City train from Keleti Station in Budapest, it is fast and most comfortable, ( unless you have a stretch limo or private jet) and has a bar and restaurant onboard, the journey takes about 2hrs and 40 mins. There are direct coach services to several towns in Germany, Slovakia and Poland. Also trains to Serbia. |
