"Colombia a beautiful country" Colombia by tampa_shawn

I am sitting in a hostel in Bogota as I right this and must say that Colombia is one of the most stunningly beautiful countries I have been to. I have totally loved my time here.

The people are also some of the nicest and friendliest in the world.

Adventure sports are inexpensive here, the weather is temperate, it is one of the best places in the world to learn spanish (Colombia speak a very clear form of spanish)

It is not a country known for great food, although I have had some wonderful meals here.
Many people only speak spanish so its best if you know some spanish (or would like to learn to speak spanish)

for the most part. I have felt safe the entire time I have have been here. Although there are areas that are still questionable. I avoided those areas....at the time I am writing this those are the pacific coast and the border areas. Although I met many who traveled the questionable areas without an issue.

The country does have a strong military presence. You may see 100 armed military-police a day but they are not threatening at all. After all they are here to protect you.

Medellin - I totally fell in love with this city. I was going to stay for a few days and had a horrible time leaving after a week. It is in my top 5 of my favorite cities in the world

Manizales - in zona cafeteria. there is so much to do here. Hiking etc. For me this is the best area to hang for an extended period of time in the coffee area.
