Safe and great way to reach Colombia | Tierra! Tierra! Cartagena |
I sailed from Portobello, Panama (Caribbean Sea side) to Cartagena, Colombia, on a beautiful yacht skippered by a real pro. His price was reasonable and he takes care of everything, documentation and paperwork, delicious fresh food, rock'n roll music from my time which the backpackers on this trip all enjoyed, and even Manu Chau... well, I had to give him my CD of Manu when I got tired of "Riders in the Sky". But then, everyone played it to death. We stopped for 2 days in the Archipelago de San Blas, on a Kuna island with only 3 families. We were as free as birds out there, and the sea and beaches are too beautiful to describe. Wondrous starlit nights too. Here is the information to get in touch with the guy I sailed with. Hope he's doing a run one way or the other when you're ready to sail. It's a fantastic voyage! (All sailing vessels are not equal, all skippers are not as experienced as my Australian skipper is, and all the San Blas islands are not as pristine as the one we went to. Choose carefully.)

mircaskirca Fri Jul 24, 2009 20:21 UTC Sounds like a great experience! Wish I'd be lucky to find such a good skipper. I also wanted to stay in El Viajero but it was fully booked well in advance (after New Year). I ended up in El Porvenir, in front of El Viajero, same owners, great place! | craic Tue Sep 18, 2007 12:45 UTC what a life of adventure you lead my dear | AlfredSt Thu Jul 5, 2007 19:38 UTC Can't believe Manu Chau!
