Shopper Connection and other Boston, MA Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

I would recommend this hotel in the winter because you do not have to go outside to get to the Prudential Center shopping mall (and other connected hotels and shopping centers).

Unique Qualities: There are comfortable beds, down pillows, and you can get a room with a PC in it, connected to the internet. You can log on to VT, surf the internet, play Free Cell, all for unlimited time, with no extra cost. Good for us travellers who don't lug a laptop around with them.
They have a super gym and an indoor pool.

Didn't stay here (can only stay one place at a time), but loved the public spaces. Worth a walk through.

Unique Qualities: Opened in 1912. Constructed on the original site of The Museum of Fine Arts, the hotel was designed by Henry Janeway Hardenberghm, who also designed The Plaza in New York. The sister hotels share the same double 'P' insignia seen throughout both properties.

Did not stay here this trip, but it would be one of my choices. Close to downtown shopping and theatres.

VT insists on calling this one of the hotels on their "preferred list" even though it is not there. Go figure - must be a glitch in the program and I hope they fix it.

Unique Qualities: Luxury hotels, known around the world.

Omni Parker House

Unique Qualities: One of Boston's luxury hotels, opened by innovative hosteler Harvey Parker, the Parker House has been operating on this site since 1856. Parker introduced the European Plan, started the practice of serving meals continuously, and coined the term 'scrod' for the fresh white fish catch of the day. The fabled Parker House Roll and the Boston Cream Pie originated here. Among the illustrious patrons of the Parker House were Charles Dickens, Ulysses S. Grant and John F. Kennedy. The members of the Saturday Club, a group of leading 19th century authors including Emerson, Lowell and Longfellow, gathered here.

Boston Marriott Copley Place

Unique Qualities: Good location, between Copley Place and Prudential Center malls. Lots of activities going on in all the public places of the hotel. The photo is in one of the open bars/lounges of the hotel.

Harborside Inn
$105 - $155; $250 for suites.

Unique Qualities: Close to Faneuil Hall, the Financial District and the waterfront. The hotel has charming rooms with Persian rugs and hardwood furnishings. There is a complimentary breakfast buffet. We almost stayed here, but when we saw the construction going on we were glad we chose the Copley Inn. We might try it on another visit, because the location and rates are good.

Hyatt Harborside

Unique Qualities: Overlooks the Boston skyline and the waterfront. Adjacent to the downtown water shuttle, the hotel is just 7 minutes from Rowes Wharf (downtown Boston) via water shuttle, and minutes to the financial and entertainment districts and historic areas. This might be a good place to stay if you have an airport layover, or only a day to see the city.

Copley Inn
$85-$135 per night; $510-$810 per week.

Unique Qualities: One of the best-kept secrets in the city. The Copley Inn is a pretty little townhouse tucked away on a quiet side street, about a 30-second walk from the Prudential Center. Its décor is comfortable and tasteful. Each of its 21 rooms is scrupulously clean and equipped with a fully stocked kitchenette. Smokers be warned, however: the owner insists on a smoke-free environment. There's no parking either (but no one needs a car in Boston).
