Japan is a country which fascinates me since I first visited when I was a teenager. To me, it's the most interesting country in the world. It's truly a unique and cultured civilization! Everything seems to be in its scheme of things here. It's so distinctive that every item produced here is a work of art in itself. A simple pair of chopsticks, a lunch box (esp. its lacquered ware), a ceramic bowl, an umbrella, a pencil & a piece of paper... each designed with care & perfection. The Japanese are truly excellent in details!
I love Japanese products. Spent most of my traveling $$$ over in the Japanese economy than anywhere else in the world. Crazy? Perhaps. But there's something to be said about having the freedom to do what one wants in life, no matter how short the time period is. It's something which one day in the future I will reflect upon and feel happy & contented about life. That's Japan to me.
While I've visited & written much about Japanese cities, FUKUOKA is a city in the island of Kyushu where we landed on & move on to the rest of the island the next day. So, I've decided to dedicate this page into an art & food culture page instead of the usual city page. By now, you'd most probably have come to know about my passion for Japanese dolls.
Have you ever looked at a doll & connect? It's like one is capable of seeing one's own inner vision? I've always felt that dolls "speak" through their facial expressions & postures. I would know as soon as I see one that I wanted to bring home. It's like love at first sight. It reawakens a certain emotion and memories. And dolls are wonderful in this sense... they are capable of opening deeper dimensions.
