Summer is the best time to take a leisure walk along the waterfront; southern edge of downtown along Queens Quay & shore of Lake Ontario. Follow the Martin Goodman Trail where there are more than 17 km (11 m) of uninterrupted bicycle & walking trails, boardwalks & beaches. Along the way, one simply get away from the city bustle & enjoy the quiet paths which include sights as the famous CN Tower, Ontario Place, Harbourfront, Queens Quay & the Beaches.

ROYAL BANK OF CANADA: One of the most futuristic building in Toronto, Royal Bank is also the biggest. Its golden reflective glass makes it very distinctive from afar. I really like this architecture. Very elegant & modern.

Chat with students at UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO (ST. GEORGE CAMPUS): Founded in 1827, U of T is the largest and one of the oldest universities in Canada. There are 52,000 full & part-time students and 6,000 faculty members at the university every year! Yeah, I graduated from this splendid university. Well known for its Engineering, Medical & Psychology Programs, the University is situated within walking distance from Eaton Centre & China Town, making it a very robust & exciting place to be. Convocation Hall (pictured) not only used for convocation ceremonies but also for lectures (1700 seats!) during the rest of the year.

If you're staying for a month or so & love to read, ROBARTS LIBRARY is one place you've to be a member of. The main library for U of T students it houses a huge collection of books, including those of East Asian Studies. Best Library in the world (it's my personal opinion, & you've to be a student to get in!). The 13 storeys & well ventilated library with many study desks & rooms provide ample space to read & sleep (when you're tired, of course!). Those were the days...Tip for those who still have access: The 8th floor East Asian Department has huge collection of Chinese novels! The University's library system includes over 50 separate libraries containing well over 4 milion volumes! Could be more now since it increases by about 200,000 works each year!

KING'S COLLEGE: The University of Toronto was founded by King George IV in 1827 as King's College. King's began on Front Street, but soon moved to the site where Parliament Buildings now stand. When the land was required for parliament's east wing, King's was replaced by the new University College, the U's first & only building, which was constructed a little to the north & west. Its original name is perpetuated in King's College Circle, which runs in front of University College, & in King's Road leading to it. I spent many Wintery days here just in front of the Medical Building. Though freezing, recalling them seems to give a warmth aura to the past experience. It's really a paradox: reality & memory!

Hey Anna, remember what this building is called? Write me if you do! Thanks! Fancy meeting another alumna from U of T here on VT! Perhaps I should consult Evelyn instead, she's currently studying engineering at the downtown campus.

HART HOUSE: The largest building on the main campus is HART HOUSE which contains numerous clubs, a theatre, an art gallery, the men's athletic wing & an imposing Great Hall. All students are members & enjoy it's facilities. The tower, whose carillon frequently rings across the city, is dedicated to the students & graduates of the University who died in both World Wars.

Over half of all students here are enrolled in the Faculty of Arts & Science, & must also be members of one of the Faculty 8 colleges. Other professional faculties are Dentistry, Library Science & Law. The 2 members of U of T's Faculty of Medicine who discovered insulin have had Institutes named for them: the Banting & the Best.
