    • Look out for the Yucca. Desert plants rarely survive among the shifting dunes. The Soaptree Yucca has adapted itself to this harsh environment by elongating its stem & thereby keep its leaves above the sand.

     Sharrie, I lived in Las Cruces for 21 years. White Sands National Monument was and is one of my favorite places. Thanks for sharing your experience. It brings back fond memories. BTW, the "sand" is water soluable gypsum and dissolves easily in the shower.
