AMSTERDAM originated from Amstelledamme meaning the 1st dam across the Amstel River where it was built. This 1st visit to the city infiltrated by water was part of my 19-day trip to Europe. It's an interesting city since it's the only one where we don't think about addresses in terms of streets but rather by canals! The real attractions of this city are: windmills, tulip fields, canals cruising, Vincent van Gogh, Rembrant, diamonds factories & the Red Light District! An amazing spectrum of choices as to how one can spend one's leisure time.

Confucius Mon Jun 21, 2004 09:00 UTC No Red Light District photo? It seems that cities with sex museums get the most hits on VT, so I found one in China that also has natural stone formations nearby to serve as visual aids. Thanks for cutting the red ribbon on my Danxia page! | George_Arba Fri Nov 28, 2003 05:27 UTC Interesting and lovely page of Amsterdam! | VincentJJ Fri Jul 4, 2003 09:41 UTC Hello Sharrie.
